Did you accidentally close a tab or you simply didn't remember the interesting web page you saw in your iPhone or iPad browser?
Modern mobile browsers allow you to reopen the tabs you just closed, similar to how to restore closed tabs on a web browser for computers . In Safari for iPhone and iPad, this feature is hidden and you can also reopen recently closed tabs on Google Chrome and other third-party browsers for iOS devices. The following article will guide you to do that.
1. Safari on iPhone
To open a recently closed tab in Safari on iPhone, first touch the Tab View button located in the lower right corner of the Safari app to see your open tabs. Next, press and hold the New Tab button with the plus symbol.
After a few seconds, the Recently Closed Tabs screen appears. You touch any recently closed tab to reopen it.
Note that this feature does not work in Private Browsing Mode . The tabs you close in Private Browsing Mode will disappear completely and cannot be restored for privacy reasons.
2. Safari on iPad
Opening closed tabs is even easier because the New Tab button is always present on the toolbar. Just press and hold the New Tab button on the Safari toolbar until the Recently Closed Tabs window appears.
Touch the tab you want to recover and Safari will reopen the site.
In Google Chrome on an iPhone or iPad, touch the menu button with the three-dot icon in the upper right corner of the screen and then touch the Recent Tabs option . You will see a list of recently closed tabs under Recently Closed . Click a tab to reopen it.
Note that you won't be able to recover incognito tabs that appear in the Recent Tabs list because Chrome "deletes" them as soon as you close them.
4. If the recently closed tabs do not appear in the list
If the tabs you've closed for a while no longer appear in the list, you can try searching them in your browser history.
To open Safari browser history, touch the book icon on the toolbar, click the book icon in the box that appears, then touch History. Scroll through your browsing history or use the search box and you should be able to find the web address of a previously opened tab.
To open browser history in Chrome, touch Menu (three dots icon) > History or touch Show Full History on the Recently Closed page . Then you just need to search for the site you want to recover.
This is a simple feature, but really handy in the case you accidentally close a tab or you simply do not remember the interesting website you have ever seen.
