How to change the Windows 10/11 login screen
Turning off the login screen via Settings is very easy. To do it on Windows 10/11:
1. Press Win + I key to open Settings , then click Personalization .
2. In Windows 11 settings, Personalization is in the left panel. Alternatively, you can right-click on the desktop and select Personalize .
3. The Personalization screen will open. On Windows 10, click Colors in the left panel. On Windows 11, the Colors tab is in the right panel.
4. On Windows 10, in the Colors screen in the right panel, the default transparency effects will be enabled. Just turn off Transparency effects .
On Windows 11, Transparency effects are on the right-hand side. Off it.
It's done. Now whenever you restart your computer, press the Win + L key combination . The lock screen will appear. Then, click Lock screen , the login screen will appear. If everything is working properly, you should no longer see a blurry screen when you sign in.
There are several ways to turn off the Transparency effect. However, if you remove the screen dimming effect when logging in by turning off Transparency, it will also disable effects on other areas of the Windows UI, such as the taskbar, Start menu , and Action center .
You can use this method if you are running Windows 10 Pro and Enterprise because the Windows Home version does not have a Local Group Policy Editor.
How to turn off the blurred login screen using Local Group Policy Editor:
1. Press Win + R to open the Run box . Type gpedit.msc and press Enter .
2. Group Policy Editor will open. Now navigate to the following path in the left panel: Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Logon .
3. In Computer Configuration , click the down arrow next to Administrative Templates to expand it.
4. In Administrative Templates , expand the System folder and click Logon .
5. Then, in the right panel, scroll down: Show clear logon background . If it is set to Not configured , you need to change it.
6. Double click on the policy item to open it and select Enabled . Then, click Apply > OK .
This action will display a clear background on the login screen.
Note, while applying this method. It's better to enable automatic registry backup. If something unfortunate happens, you can restore Windows to its normal state.
You can even choose which photo you want to display on the login screen. You need to set a picture on the lock screen. Here's how:
Right-click on the desktop and select Personalize from the menu. In Personalization settings , select Lock screen .
On Windows 10 , in the Background tab , you will have 3 options: Windows spotlight, Picture and Slideshow.
On Windows 11, you have 3 options in Personalize your lock screen .

The most important thing is to scroll down to the lock screen page and make sure Show lock screen backgroud picture on the sign-in screen is enabled . The photo you selected will now appear on the login screen.
