If you’re a Minecraft lover, you might have put a lot of hours into the game over the years, and it can be interesting to learn exactly how much time you’ve spent playing Minecraft.

Whether you’re trying to convince your parents or partner that you aren’t spending too much time on games, or you’d simply like to keep track of your Minecraft history, there’s an easy way to find out how many hours you’ve spent mining and crafting.

Let’s take a look at how you can view how many hours you’ve played Minecraft.

How to View Your Minecraft Statistics

The Statistics tab in Minecraft doesn’t only keep track of how many hours you’ve spent building your virtual worlds, but you can also see how many times you’ve done each of the game’s activities. Like how many times you’ve opened a chest or talked to villagers, how much distance you’ve walked or swum, etc.

Note: Only the Java edition of Minecraft for PC or Mac allows you to see Statistics this way.

Every time you save a world, that world’s statistics are automatically saved.

How to Open the Statistics Tab

You can find the Statistics tab by following these simple steps:

1. Open Minecraft.
2. Press the Escape button on your keyboard to open the Minecraft menu.
3. Click on Statistics under the Back to Game button.
   
4. The following options will appear: General, Items, and Mobs. Make sure General has been selected.
   
5. Scroll down to where it says Time Played.
   

The Items show how many times you’ve depleted, crafted, picked up, dropped, or used different items, such as an iron shovel, a pickaxe, a bow, a sword, etc.

The final category is named Mobs. It shows you how many times you’ve killed a spider, a skeleton, a zombie, a creeper, etc.

View Time Played

To see how many hours you’ve played Minecraft, open Statistics and stay in the General category.

The second item on the list is Minutes played, but the amount of time played can also be expressed in days (d) or hours (h). If you want to see all the items from the list, you’ll need to scroll down.

Note that this only shows you stats related to a certain world. If you’d like to know the overall time you’ve spent building all your saved worlds, you can calculate it by adding each individual period of time.

Other Interesting Statistics

The statistics tab contains a lot of interesting stats and details about your gameplay.

Some other interesting things the Statistics tab can also show you are:

1. How many times have you clicked on Save and quit to the title
2. How long it’s been since you last died in the game
3. How often you’ve used the Sneak button.
4. Total sprinting, falling, or crouching distance.
5. How many times you’ve jumped.
6. How many times you’ve died.
7. How many times you’ve blocked damage with a shield.

The list goes on and on, but you get the point. All this data is stored in your Statistics, so you can easily compare your success to other players.

How to Reset Your Statistics

There’s a simple way to reset your stats if you want to start from scratch.

1. Open the .minecraft folder from your computer.
2. Find the folder with the same name as the world you want to delete the stats for.
3. Open the Statistics folder from that world’s folder.
4. Delete the content of the folder.

Congrats, your statistics are now reset!

View Hours Played on the Minecraft App

If you’d like to see how many hours you’ve played Minecraft using the app do this:

1. Launch the app and tap on Profile.
   
2. Tap on the Achievements tab.
   
3. View the Hours Played section.
   

View Hours Played on Xbox

Using your Xbox app, you can see how long you’ve played Minecraft. Follow these instructions:

1. Open the Xbox app on your phone and tap on the three vertical lines in the upper left-hand corner.
   
2. Tap on Achievements.
   
3. Scroll down to Hours Played.
   

Can I see how many hours I’ve played Minecraft for PlayStation?

Why does the app tell me a different amount of hours than the Java version?

The hours you’ve played depends on how many accounts you’ve made. For example, if you’re playing on the app on your phone, the Java version won’t record it.
