There is no question, UniKey is the most popular and best Vietnamese typing tool today. However, one thing is for sure, most of us use Telex typing and Unicode encoding on this tool. Therefore, many people do not even know what VNI typing method is, do not know UniKey has Microsoft typing method, let alone Vietnamese typing methods with these methods.
In fact, the main input method we use is Telex, this is the same method that we can use on any browser, chat tool or Facebook , Zalo , Viber , Skype ...
However, there are also cases where UniKey users are required to change their charset or input method to VNI, VIQR or Microsoft to be able to use on some tools such as Photoshop , Proshow Producer ...
Typing Vietnamese using VNI style
The way to convert UniKey 's encoding and typing is too simple and certainly no one does not know, however, how to be able to type Vietnamese with these typing methods is the problem. The following article will guide you to type Vietnamese accented by VNI, VIQR, Telex .
Because not only due to the habit of using, but the fact that each of these typing methods has a different rule and rule that cannot be applied together. The first type - VNI , is a typing method developed by VNISoft . VNI conventionally uses the number keys to represent the sign of the letter while entering text (the name VNI also comes from that).
Table illustrating VNI typing method
With the "formula" as above, to be able to type normal words, users need to combine letters and numbers (accents of the word or words), for example:
Vietnamese = Tie6ng1 Vie6t5
Road = D9u7o7ng2
Or you can write the signs that make up the words "ă, â, ư, ô, ơ, ê" at the end of the sentence, UniKey can understand and form a correct word for you.
For example:
Road = Duong9772
Vietnam = Viet65 South
ATTENTION:
With 1-byte charsets such as TCVN 3, BK HCM1, VISCII, VPS ... we must use upper case font to type accented capital letters (Â, A, O, O, O, U , D ...).
For lower case fonts, you can only type uppercase letters without a match.
VNI typing method is different from Vietnamese VNI typing software and VNI font set .
Use VIQR typing method to type Vietnamese
VIQR input method with full name is VI etnamese Q uoted R eadable, also known as American typing method. Because VIQR uses the accents available on American keyboard to type accents for letters in Vietnamese. Or more accurately, this method uses ASCII characters to type diacritics.
You can see details about using keys to type Vietnamese using VIQR typing method as shown below:
VIQR typing method of UniKey
Specific example:
Vietnamese = tie ^ 'ng Vie ^ .t
line = d + + o + 'ng = d + + d'
Or you can type similar to VNI, which is typing the first letter, the last sign, like: line = duongd ++ '.
A small note for those using this VIQR typing method is that, during the process of writing documents or typing Vietnamese, to type question marks (?), Dots (.) Without being processed by UniKey , you can press the escape key (\) before using those special keys.
For example:
To have the word " ask " we would usually type " hoi? ", But in the case of UniKey "catching the error", you could type " hoi \? ", We could still get the word "ask" like normal.
ATTENTION:
For VNI and VIQR typing methods using 1 Byte encoding, you need to use uppercase letters to have accented capital letters, while regular fonts can still be capitalized, but there will be no accents.
If the word you typed is in the wrong sign, but the mouse cursor stays in that position without moving to another position, you can type another marker on it.
Type Vietnamese with the Microsoft style
Microsoft typing method is also known as TCVN6064 typing method, because in fact, we often never use this type of typing, so the writer does not talk deeply, just introduce to you so you can imagine the typing method. this.
You can observe and see very clearly, Microsoft is a combination of two VNI and VIQR typing methods:
How to use Microsoft typing
Microsoft typing method uses numeric keys to write letters (VNI) and available symbols such as VIQR to write the letters AN, Â, Ô, Ơ ...
How to use Vietnamese typing method Telex
This is the way most people installing Unikey use it, so it goes without saying. But if you want to understand more about the typing rules of this type, you can know that Telex is a repeated typing (type twice in the same key) and use letters that are not in the Vietnamese alphabet ( like W, Z).
Typing Vietnamese using Telex style
In addition, with this Telex typing method, we can also use the keys ] or [ to quickly type the " ơ " or " ư ". There are also a few specific notes with this typing method:
For Unicode-coded charsets (or 2-byte charsets), users only need to type uppercase letters, and accents (acute, question mark, tilde, etc.) and circumflex (in the word "ơ, ư, ê ...") can type the lowercase key.
The rules for signed and unsigned capital letters when using 1-byte encoding are similar to the above typing methods.
If you type the wrong sign and do not move the mouse to the new position, you can quickly fix it by typing over the new sign (for example, you want the word " Hai ", but mistakenly typing " Hais ", you can type the word " r " "to" Haisr "to return the correct word" Hai ").
Another important note that many people often overlook, is that with UniKey's Telex typing method, you should put the word mark at the end so that the percussion automatically adds it to the correct position in the Vietnamese language ( for example, the word "yellow" should be typed " vangf ", "about" = " khoangr ").
Above is the basic knowledge to use UniKey Vietnamese percussion on the computer, but certainly not many people know or really understand these rules. Hopefully the article will help you gain more knowledge about UniKey along with Vietnamese typing methods other than Telex.
