How to write a coursework in law?

Course work on law is one of the main elements of the educational process, which determines the ability of students to think independently and correctly formulate their thoughts.

It would seem that it is quite difficult to write, moreover, the requirements for its design are quite high. However, if you prepare and properly organize your work, it will be easy to write a course.

Writing a term paper is not different from writing other types of term papers, but has its characteristics. An important role is played by knowledge of the law, the ability to analyze it for feasibility in practice and identify its gaps. All this is done very easily, even interestingly.

How to write a term paper on law?

1. First you need to choose a topic. If you have 2-3 days to choose a topic, do not rush to choose it right away. (Three identical words in a row, it is better to paraphrase). First, look at the regulatory framework governing this issue, and the work of scientists, and then choose a topic. It should be interesting and there should be enough material on it.

2. The next step is to draw up and approve the plan. On the Internet, you can find many term papers on law and plans for them.

3. It is not necessary to copy the plan and course work (this recommendation directly contradicts the previous one, it is better to specify that the found plan or text of course work can be used as a base, but it is necessary to process according to the subject) on the Internet for the following reasons:

  • they are not of good quality;
  • do not comply with the law;
  • many of them are written under the laws of other countries;
  • teachers have sufficient skills to use Internet resources and in each case check the plan themselves.

4. In order to make a plan yourself, you should find out what regulates a particular legal phenomenon.

5. Next, you proceed to the main part of the work: directly writing a term paper. The course work on law mainly contains 3 sections: in the first you describe the general provisions of a legal phenomenon (for example, the concept of house arrest as a precautionary measure, which regulations regulate, etc.), in the second you specify in detail the procedure its application (terms, subjects, duties imposed on the person). The third section can be of two types: either you describe the problems and ways to solve them, or the international experience of house arrest. (It is better to replace with "… experience of application of the considered legal phenomenon").

6. Most of the topics of the course work are closely related to the use of legal framework. Here it is necessary to understand that it is necessary to use information resources of state bodies.

7. You do not need to just copy the law into the text, it should be re-read and described in your own words, because teachers know the law and it can affect your assessment. (You can say that this is not logical - how knowledge of the law by teachers affects the student's assessment? Perhaps it is worth paraphrasing "because the rules of law are well known to teachers and they are not interested in quoting, but how the student can interpret these rules, turn, will directly affect the assessment ").

8. The analysis of explanations of the norms of the legislation by the Supreme Commercial Court. Be sure to refer to the following explanations in your work.

9. You should also substantiate the results of your research in judicial and investigative practice. Choose the type of case there and refer in your work to the court decision.

10. It is also advisable to use the current events (for example, if you are writing a term paper on international cooperation in criminal proceedings, you should mention the problems of extradition of perpetrators).

11. If you use textbooks, you should pay attention to the year of publication, because the law changes and it may contain outdated information.

12. When writing a term paper should pay attention to gaps in the legislation and suggest their own ways to address them. Your supervisor (the word "will" is omitted) should pay special attention to this (repetition of the same turns in a short period of time, it is worth paraphrasing) because by doing so you show independence in writing the work.

13. The list of literature is made ibythe recommendations approved by the educational institution where you study. If you have not been provided with such recommendations, you draw up a list of references by the requirements of the Higher Attestation Commission (Higher Attestation Commission Bulletin, № 5, 2009). In most cases, at the beginning of the list are placed regulations by their legal force, and then the work of scientists in alphabetical order. But you can also form a list by a degree in the order in which the literature is used in the work. So much easier and more practical, as with coursework assistance. (The formation of the list of literature is quite strictly regulated, it is not recommended to follow the principle of "easier and more practical", it is better to follow the methodological recommendations, as a last resort - to review already defended works in this university or consult with a supervisor).

14. References to the used literature as a general rule are made out in square brackets where the number of a source and the page on which there is a material is specified: [14, 165]. (As a rule, the page is specified at citation, at simple reference or paraphrasing only the reference to a number of a source in the list is put).

15. A plus for your course work will be the use of applications: it can be statistics, forms of procedural documents, tables, etc. Their use must be reflected in the text of the coursework.

After fulfilling all the requirements, the coursework is given to the supervisor to check and make changes. If there are no comments, the term paper can be defended.
