Teaching Handbook – ClassDojo is an educational tool that supports classroom management and school-to-student and parent communication. Through Class Dojo, parties can easily follow and participate in each other's activities. This is a small online class that aims to promote the learning process of students as well as increase the connection between the school, teachers and students.
The role of Class Dojo in the classroom
- Help students love positive culture in Class Dojo
- Easily encourage students in class
- Parents can be involved in their child's learning progress, are available to encourage or congratulate their child when they are praised in class, and can help with their learning at home.
User manual
Step 1 : Log in to Class Dojo
Log in to Class Dojo at: https://www.classdojo.com/ (If you don't have a teacher, click register )
Step 2 : Create a new layer
Create a new Class by selecting “Add a new class”
Step 3 : Add students to the class – Add students
Add students by selecting “Add students” and then entering the student name.
Or you can import a list of students from an existing file on your computer by choosing “ Import student list”
Teachers can import from Word or Excel files
Step 4 : Invite students and parents to join Class Dojo
After selecting Invites parents, the teacher can directly enter the email or phone number of each student's parent in the box next to the student's name and click Invite or click Download parent invites to download a pdf file, which has a code class attendance number for each parent.
Step 5. Add toolkit to manage and organize activities.
Use Toolkit to manage, and create lively activities for the classroom
• Timer: Set a countdown timer
• Random: Randomly select students
• Group Maker: Create groups from class
• Noise Meter: Check noise from class
• Directions: Create activities
• Think PairShare: Give questions to students
• Today: Greeting, announcements
• Music: Choose background music for the class
Step 6. Class attendance
Click Attendance to take attendance of students
- Mark all present: mark all students present
- Mark all absent: mark all students absent
- Click on each student to mark present or absent or late
- Click Save Attendance to save attendance results
Step 7: Evaluate and exchange
Click on each student to evaluate the feedback point (evaluation score), feedback point is the teacher's comments for students, there are two types:
• Positive: Positive score – Good assessment
• Need works : Need to practice practice more
Here teachers can completely Add or edit assessment criteria.
Note : If a student does not have a parent participating in the class, an Invite …Parents button will appear below the list of criteria for allowing parents to participate.
Click on Message to communicate with students' parents -> select the parent to exchange in the list. Students who do not have a parent involved will have their name and (+) appear.
Step 8. Share feelings, ideas on class timeline
Teachers can share feelings, ideas or any stories on the class timeline and students can participate and follow these. To do this, the teacher clicks on Class Story
