Most gold-plated watches today use the most advanced PVD technology , giving the watch a beautiful gold-plated, durable and luxurious color .
However, after a long time of using this gold-plated layer, if you do not keep it carefully , it will quickly fade .
Here are a few notes when wearing a gold-plated watch to remember.
The reason for the discoloration of gold-plated watches is largely due to body sweat . Your body sweat has a certain amount of salt. When this amount of salt clings to a gold-plated watch, it will tarnish, no longer look luxurious, shiny like when first bought.
So when not in use, you need to clean the watch . This can help preserve your watch to keep it active and looking good for as long as possible.
Inert gold will not react with water, but the base metal layer below the coating can. Therefore, you should avoid exposing the watch to water . You should keep the watch in a dry, cool place, not damp when not in use.
Wipe the watch with as little water as possible to keep it dry and not in water. In addition, you should avoid wearing a watch while bathing, washing dishes, going to rain, swimming, ...
Lotion, makeup product, hair spray, ... even reacts with the base metal underneath the coating faster than water. So, for the best preservation of your gold-plated watch, you should wait a few minutes after applying cosmetics .
Also, do not spray perfume on your wrist while wearing the watch. At the same time, when using, you should pay attention not to the watch being too much collided, leading to scratches, losing its inherent beauty.
- Use topcoat
The watch's glossy finish protects the watch from sweat exposure on the hands (and vice versa). It is a thin, transparent liquid that you can brush on like nail polish.
Apply this coating to the band and watch face in direct contact with the skin of your hands , it will help protect the watch from perspiration and protect your hands from allergies to the metal layer underneath the coating.
After wearing the watch, use a damp cotton / cotton swab or cotton cloth and wipe the watch carefully through the clock, thoroughly wiping the watch grooves. Note that the cotton pad should not be too water to get the inside of the watch wet.
Pour some toothpaste (traditional, free of microparticles as they can scratch, gilded watch) on a clean cotton or cloth, or directly on watch stains . Carefully rub the toothpaste over the stains, gently cleaning them.
Wipe starts from the inside of the strap . Then move to the outside and be especially careful not to touch the inside of the watch , the gilded area of the watch itself.
Finally, dampen a clean cloth or cotton ball and wipe over the watch, making sure to remove all toothpaste . Remember, any leftover toothpaste on the watch can cause corrosion, so make sure the watch is thoroughly washed off.
Choose the detergent that is safe for the gold plating and use it according to the instructions on the packaging. The method is similar to cleaning with toothpaste.
If the stains in the grooves are too small to be cleaned, you can use a solution of ammonia to clean them. Dissolve a little ammonia solution with water in the ratio of 1: 6 , then immerse the watch strap for 60 seconds, then remove and dry immediately.
Use a soft jewelry cloth to scrub the watch , paying attention to dull spots. Dry and scrub with another clean cloth . So your watch shines again!
