Among all the types of nail art stands out the French Chevron , an original, fun and simple variant to make as an alternative to the classic French manicure.
We explain how it is born, what its peculiarities are and how to create it in a few simple steps!
WHAT IS FRENCH CHEVRON
The French Chevron is a variant of the classic one where, unlike a concave bezel drawn on the free edge of the nail, a classic triangle shape is created .
Chevron from French means " herringbone " and this manicure is reminiscent of the triangular arrangement of the sea bones.
Elegant and modern, it is currently very glamorous and original, perfect for those who love to have sober and simple nails , but never banal!
The Chevron technique also lends itself to multiple variations: it can be characterized by a single triangular section that replaces the classic French manicure , or made up of several triangles to form a sort of braid pattern .
The classic white with which French is usually made, can be replaced by color. In this way the nail art is cheerful, lively and always very versatile.
Easily achievable, it represents an original idea to always have neat and tidy hands .
HOW FRENCH CHEVRON IS BORN
The origins of this manicure are not known precisely: it is believed that it is an evolution of the Half Moon Manicure , modified however in quite recent times.
The idea of the French Chevron also known as V-Shaped , comes from the celebrity manicurist Jin Soon Choi who developed this type of nail-art, formulating numerous variations.
The characteristic inverted “V” shape can be designed and revisited in various ways. Wide or narrow, the V-Shaped varies according to the more or less dramatic effect we wish to give to our nails. Colors play a fundamental role: the color combinations are infinite and all of particular impact.
Simply unleash your imagination to obtain a unique, elegant, sporty or sophisticated French Chevron depending on the occasion.
No wonder that in recent years it has been one of the most glamorous manicures used by Hollywood movie stars .
WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE IT
To make the French Chevron , you need to have:
Two colored enamels of different shades (possibly in contrast);
Transparent base and top coat;
Pen to correct nail polish.
Optional but definitely useful if you have little manual skills:
V-Shaped Form Stickers (V- shaped stickers that are a guide for tracing the shape);
a thin nail art brush.
These two tools are very useful because they allow you to create a precise and clean V shape , without smudging and rather clear as foreseen by the French Chevron technique .
HOW THE FRENCH CHEVRON IS MADE
Making a perfect French Chevron is quite simple: a minimum of dexterity and a little imagination will allow us to obtain a perfect manicure.
Here are the basic steps to create the characteristic V-Shape decoration .
We start with the application of the transparent base in order to protect the nail from any color spots.
Once the base is dry, we start by applying the first colored nail polish as a base all over the nail and wait for it to dry.
Proceed by tracing the first transverse line using a second colored nail polish , starting from the side of the nail up to the opposite end of the free edge.
The triangular section is then completed by drawing a second line that starts from the opposite side and also ends on the free edge.
In this way we will have obtained a real French which instead of being concave, looks exactly like a triangle.
It ends by applying a top coat that helps increase the duration of the manicure.

HELPFUL HINTS AND TIPS

In this way, drawing precise and well-defined lines will be much easier.
The V-shaped adhesive nail forms are also very useful, small adhesive strips that act as a guide and allow us to trace a perfect French Chevron , if used as a stencil. As an alternative you can use a classic adhesive tape that we all have at home.
The V-Shaped Manicure , lends itself to numerous variations: we can let ourselves be freely carried away by the imagination.

WHO SUITS THE MOST
Combined with a square or almond shape , the French Chevron is perfect and very harmonious, suitable in this case also for not very tapered hands.
The ideal length of the nail is medium or long in order to stand out more this kind of decoration. It tends to be a bit out of tune, resulting forced on other particular shapes such as stilettos, pipes and new shapes in general .
However, it always turns out to be a versatile and undemanding manicure , easy to make and of great impact!
