How to remove a wristwatch without tools is simple and easy to do

Removing the back of the watch to replace the Battery or inspect the watch's internal components at home saves you time and money than taking it to the store. Follow along for instructions on how to remove the back (back cover) of your watch without tools!

1. Determine the type of watch back cover

Currently, the watch back cover (watch back) has three types: pressed cap, screw cap, screw cap. To remove the watch back cover at home, you first need to determine what kind of back cover your watch belongs to.

1.1 Screw cap

The screw cap is the back cover that is opened and closed by screwing. The top face of the screw cap will have evenly distributed indentations (usually 6) for the lid opening / closing tool to stick. The screwed inner lid is fitted with the body of the case.

1.2 Screw cap

The screw cap is the back cover that is attached to the case body with screws, usually 4 or 6 screws. These screws penetrate the back cover into the case body and are evenly distributed across the face of the case.

1.3 Press cap

The pressed cap is the back cover pressed against the case by pressure, so there will be no concave or screws on the back cover, increasing the elegance of this watch with back cover.

2. How to remove the back (back cover) of wristwatch without tools

Some notes before opening the watch back cover :

• Before removing the back cover clock for clock leather cord , wire cloth , or other types of wired removable clock else you need to unlock the top rope to the two separated. However, for metal watches with interlocking, it's a good idea to remove the eyelets (or even buckle) to make opening the lid easier.

2.1 Use sticking tools, scissors or pliers to open screw caps

The way to do this is to place the items with adhesive on the watch back cover, press firmly so that they stick to the back cover. Then, forcefully turn counterclockwise until the back cover is loosened. When the back cover loosens, remove the back cover with your fingers.

You place 2 pullers or pliers into 2 symmetrical indents on the back of the watch, press the ends tightly into the concave, then rotate clockwise until the lid is opened.

Note : To be more efficient, you need to hold the watch tightly while performing. You can put the watch on the table, but you need to put a thick soft cloth underneath to avoid scratching or breaking the watch glass.

2.2 Use the blade or screwdriver to open the screw cover

Of the three types of back cover, the screw cover is easiest to open, just use the tip of a small knife or screwdriver to screw the screw counterclockwise . After screwing up all the screws on the watch back cover, you can easily remove the back cover.

While opening the watch back cover, you need to keep these screws carefully, to avoid losing them to close the lid after opening.

2.3 Use your fingernail or the blade to open the press cap

For watches with pressed back covers, you can use your fingernail or the blade to open the back cover when replacing the Watch Battery.

Because there are no concave or screws like the other 2 types of back cover, you must first locate the gap around the edge of the back cover. If your watch has not yet opened the back cover, this opening is usually next to the pin connecting the watch strap and face.

Next, you use one hand to grip the watch, the other hand place the tip of the small blade or nail into the gap. Once in place, pry the edge of the back cover open. The back cover is quite tight, you need to be patient to open the back cover, do not use too much strength, avoid scratching the watch case.
