How To Show Member Count In Discord

Device Links

Discord servers are one of the most popular ways for like-minded people to gather and discuss their favorite topics. There’s a limit to how many members a server can contain, but it’s still a large number. What if you own a large server and want to check how many members there are?

How To Show Member Count In Discord

Thankfully, there are a few ways to find out how many Discord users are on your server. Whether through the default UI or with the help of bots, there’s something for everyone.

How to Show the Member Count in Discord on a PC

Every Discord server already displays the number of users online or offline. On PC, you can see these numbers on the right side of your screen. While this is convenient for sparsely-populated servers, the default member counter isn’t great for large ones.

Large servers shouldn’t use this tab because after surpassing 1,000 members, Discord doesn’t show you how many members are offline.

Using the Tab on the Right Side of the Screen

If your server is small, these simple steps will let you see how many members are on your server:

  1. Launch the Discord client or web version on a browser.

  2. Click on the server you wish to check.

  3. Look to the right side of the screen.

  4. By scrolling up and down, you can see the number of people online or offline.

If your server only has around 10 members, you may not even have to scroll down. Your monitor or screen may be large enough to show all the names.

Access Server Settings

Admins and mods or anyone with permission may access a Discord server’s settings. In the “Server Settings” menu is an option to view the number of members. Unfortunately, ordinary users can’t see these numbers on PC.

Here’s how to access Server Settings:

  1. Launch Discord.

  2. Head to the server you wish to check.

  3. Click on the arrow next to the server’s name.

  4. Select “Server Settings.”

  5. Go to “Members” to see how many there are.

Heading there is extremely simple, but only those with administrator permissions can see it. If you want to let all users see the stats, it’s not the end of the world. The following section will let you do so.

Using Member Count

Scrolling down for a few minutes to count how many members populate a server is a tedious task. You may even miscount. Fortunately, Discord bot developers have created more than one solution. This solution even works for non-admins.

Enter Member Count, a bot dedicated solely to counting members and more. It’s currently present in at least 400,000 servers, and the number will only continue to grow. With Member Count, you won’t be in the dark about your server statistics anymore.

Among Member Count’s functions are:

  • Counting members
  • Counting users with specific roles
  • Dividing members into online or offline statuses

Here’s how to use Member Count and find out how many Discord users hang out in your large server:

  1. As the administrator, invite Member Count to the server.
  2. Select the channel to specify the bot invitation.

  3. Click “Authorize.”

  4. Go to any text channel.

  5. Type “m!setup” and press “Enter.”

  6. You’ll see a few new voice channels that show you your stats, including the member count.

  7. Feel free to delete any stats you don’t wish to have.

These stats are visible to everyone, unlike the previous one requiring access to the server’s settings. All users in the server can keep track of the member count and celebrate upon reaching a milestone.

Other Bots

Member Count isn’t the only bot you can use to determine how many users are on a server. Popular bots like Dyno also have commands to let you check. For Dyno, it’s “?membercount” with a cooldown of 10 seconds.

All Discord bots are different, and you’ll have to learn the commands individually if they have the member count functionality. If you already have a few bots on your server, go ahead and check their documentation. You never know if one or more of your bots can already tell you these stats.

Just like with Member Count, you have to invite the bot to your server. Depending on the bot, you may also have to set it up before using the commands.

How to Show the Member Count in Discord on the iPhone App

Discord on the iPhone may appear smaller and more congested, but it’s still a powerhouse of an app. The tab at the right isn’t usually visible, but swiping right will reveal it. You can also scroll up and down to check out who’s online or offline.

Similar to PC, the offline tab disappears upon the server reaching 1,000 members. As such, you’ll have to rely on bots or checking the server settings.

Here’s how to check the bar on the right:

  1. Open the Discord app on your iPhone.

  2. Open any server you wish to check.

  3. Swipe your screen to the right.
  4. Scroll up and down if needed to check how many members are online or offline.

  5. Swipe left to close the screen.

Tapping the Server’s Name on iPhone

While you need to have admin permission on PC, Discord on mobile is different. All you need is to be on a server to check out how many members are present. Let’s take a look at the instructions.

  1. On your iPhone, open the Discord app.

  2. Head to a server.

  3. Tap on the server’s name.

  4. Scroll down to check the member count.

These steps take no time, and you can check even if you’re only a regular member without admin permissions.

Add Member Count on iPhone

Adding a bot to your server on iPhone isn’t too different than doing so on a PC. You only need to know what bot you want and have Discord for your iPhone. Other than that, you’ll also need to ensure your server accepts bots.

Here’s what adding Member Count on iPhone looks like:

  1. First, go to your server.

  2. Head to the server’s settings.

These steps are all useful for adding other bots to the server, except for the setup part. Each bot has its setup procedures, which you should follow. If you already have bots with member count commands, executing them will do.

How to Show the Member Count in Discord on the Android App

Android users may also check the member count of any server. Discord for Android is practically identical to its iPhone counterpart. Due to this, you can follow the same steps as on iPhone.

To check the tab on the right side of the screen, follow these steps:

  1. Open Discord for Android.

Tapping the Server’s Name on Android

Android users also don’t have to be admins and mods to check each server’s member count. All they have to do is tap the server’s name and locate the option. You can find out your favorite server’s user count on Android this way:

  1. Go to any server.

Adding Any Bot With Member Count Commands

You can add any bot on Discord for Android to a server you manage. Once you have the rights, adding the bot is a simple affair. Here’s how:

  1. Make sure you have permission to add Discord bots to your server.
  2. Head to the website of the bot you want to add.
  3. Tap the button to invite the bot.

  4. Choose the server to extend an invitation to the bot.

  5. Give the bot the permissions it needs.
  6. Tap “Authorize.”

  7. Perform any setup procedures, following the prompts.
  8. Enter a command if required.

With bots, you can check your member count any time you wish. Even other members of your server may do so if you let them.

Here’s to 3,000 Members

Discord server owners may be curious about their server’s population. While Discord makes it easy to check for Android and iOS, the process is slightly more challenging on PC. Even so, with the right bots, keeping an eye on the member count is very easy.

How large is your Discord server? What bot do you use to keep track of the member count? Tell us in the comments section below.
