If you’re like most people, you probably use your Fire Tablet’s browser, Silk, to look for things online.
In the moments of boredom, items that we browse can be fascinating. From completely random questions to the ones we’re embarrassed to ask other people. The good thing is that you can delete browsing history and keep some privacy. We’ll show you how.
How to Clear Internet Browsing History
We’re first going to show you how to delete complete Internet browsing history. If you’re planning to sell your Fire Tablet or give it to someone, don’t forget to clear your search history. Others don’t need to see your internet activity. Here’s how you can do it:
- Go to Silk Browser.
- Tap on a small image with three lines to open the Menu.
- Tap on the Settings.
- Tap on the Privacy.
- Tap on Clear browsing data.
- Now, you can choose a period.
- If you want to delete your complete browsing history, click on All time.
- To confirm, tap on Clear data.
There you have it! You’ve successfully cleared your browsing history.
Clear History Within a Particular Period
If there’re some items that you’d like to remove, but you don’t want to delete the whole browsing history, you can do that as well. You can do that using the method described above, just selecting a different period in step 6. But as we’re about to explain, there’s one more way to do it:
- Go to Silk Browser.
- Tap on a small image with three lines to open the Menu.
- Tap on a clock icon to access your History.
- Select the Trash Can icon.
- Now, you can choose a period. You can delete items from the last hour, last day, seven days, or even one month.
- Tap on Clear data.
You’ve removed the items you didn’t want to save, but you’ve saved the rest of your browsing history, and you can go back to it any time you need.
Can I Remove Only One Website?
We’ve shown you how to delete search history for a specific period. But what if you want to remove just one website from your browsing history? We’ll show you how to do that as well.
- Go to Silk Browser.
- Tap on a small image with three lines to open the Menu.
- Tap on a clock icon to access your History.
- Tap on Search History.
- Start typing the name of the website you’d like to remove.
- When the website appears below, select the X sign next to it.
- Proceed like this for every website you’d like to remove.
Important Note: If you’ve visited a particular website multiple times, you may need to search the list again to make sure that you’ve removed all of the entries in question.
Private Browsing Mode
If you’re new to Fire Tablet, maybe you haven’t noted that it also has a private browsing mode. Just a couple of years ago, Kindle didn’t have this feature, but Amazon decided to add it. It’s very similar to private modes on other popular browsers. It means that the browser won’t save the things that you searched and the sites you visited.
All you have to do to enable private mode is to go to the Menu and select this option. Private browsing mode is handy when multiple people are using the same device. For example, if you’re sharing your Fire Tablet with a sibling who has entirely different interests.
Of course, bear in mind that your browsing history won’t be 100% private. As with every other device, the websites that you visit may still be visible to your Internet service provider.
A Clean Slate
Now you know how to delete your Internet browsing history. We hope that it won’t get you into an uncomfortable situation ever again. A bit of privacy is a good thing, so you can also use the private browsing mode if you don’t want to bother with clearing your search history.
