FAQs
Do I need an invite link to join a specific server on Discord?
Most of the time the answer is yes. Individual Discord servers are typically marked as private, and you’ll need to get an invite link from a member to join. Only members of a Discord server can invite others to join. However, there are some Discord servers that are public and do not require an invite to join.
Who can view a Discord server’s audit logs?
The admin of the server has access to the audit logs. The admin can also assign permission to other members to access this information. These would typically be moderators of the channel or trusted friends.
What other information does an audit log show?
In addition to showing which members have sent invites, audit logs also show which members have been banned, the creation of new roles and permissions, along with other technical information. These logs generally show all activity for the server.
How long is a Discord invite link valid for?
When a Discord admin, moderator, or member creates an invite link, they have the option to customize it. They can set the link to expire anywhere between 30 minutes to never. If no customized expiration date was set, the default is 24 hours. This means that if the link isn’t used within 24 hours of it being created, the person it was sent to won’t be able to use it.
Use Audit Logs to See Who Sent Invites on Discord
You can quickly see which members have sent invites to your server by checking your server’s audit logs. This can be done on your desktop PC or Mac. If you use a smartphone to check your audit logs, the only limitation is you won’t be able to filter the log only to see who sent invites. However, you can still access information about who sent invites by checking the logs with your phone.
